Does Genital Herpes travel everywhere before it goes back to its original place of origin on the body?

Hi, I have been living with Genital Herpes for almost 3 years now. My first outbreaks were very bad on the genital area only, then a year or so after that it spread to my inner thighs. Now for the last year it has been on my right butt cheek. Why does the virus jump aroud like this do this? Is it that that every part of the body it goes to develops resistance? Will it every go back to the original place of origin on my genitals? Also, how many copies are present when the virus is dormant, one? I know it replicates itself when it when it comes out of the dormant stage, but how many copies are in present in the dormant stage? Also, what does the present outlook for a cure look like? I hope there is a cure soon.
