Cold sores and herpes type 1...it's just doesn't make sense!!?

Cold sores(herpes type 1 on the mouth) and genital herpes type 1 are the same thing. So why is it a big deal to have to tell someone u have genital herpes type 1 when it's the exact same as cold sores...nobody tells people they have had cold sores in the past so what's the need to tell someone if You've had genital herpes type 1 in the past!!?Especially if you've only had the one breakout and the virus has become dormant
